PARKING
PLEASE NOTE: As of January 5th, 2026, the City of San Diego's paid parking program in Balboa Park is in effect. More information can be found at https://balboa[ark.org/plan-your-visit/parking/.
For Balboa Park Parking, the closest lot is Alcazar located South and West of the Timken. The Organ Pavilion parking lot has ample parking and is a 10-minute walk to the museum. Additional parking may be found in the Inspiration Point, Palisades, Federal, Balboa, Natural History, and Zoo parking lots.
BALBOA PARK TRAMS
Free Balboa Park Trams operate daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Trams leave every 10 to 12 minute and follow a loop route from parking areas at Inspiration Point, on Pan American Plaza, and behind the Hall of Champions, stopping at the Plaza de Panama.

DIRECTIONS
- Interstate 5 South
- Exit on Sassafras Street, airport exit
- Continue to Laurel Street, stoplight, and turn left
- Follow Laurel Street into Balboa Park. You will cross Cabrillo Bridge into the center of Balboa Park
- Laurel Street ends at the Plaza de Panama, adjacent to the Museum.
- Interstate 5 North
- Exit on Sixth Avenue
- Turn right onto Sixth Avenue
- Continue to Laurel Street, stoplight, and turn right
- Follow Laurel Street into Balboa Park. You will cross Cabrillo Bridge into the center of Balboa Park
- Laurel Street ends at the Plaza de Panama, adjacent to the Museum.
- Interstate 8 West
- Exit onto State Highway 163 South
- Exit onto University Avenue, continue straight as it turns into Sixth Avenue
- Continue to Laurel Street, stoplight, and turn left
- Follow Laurel Street into Balboa Park. You will cross Cabrillo Bridge into the center of Balboa Park
- Laurel Street ends at the Plaza de Panama, adjacent to the Museum.
